Linus Hultegård studied medicine at the University of Gothenburg and works as an intern at the Hospital of Southern Älvsborg. During his medical studies he started to run more continuously and seriously. In the autumn 2014 he joined his first running club, Sävedalens AIK. After joining the club he made quick progress as a competitive runner.
Major accomplishments
In the end of 2015 he competed in his first obstacle course race, the final Toughest race in Gothenburg. He surprised everyone with a great finish time. 2016 he was convinced to compete in Toughest Elite. His debut season went beyond expectations with lots of placements at the podium and ended up at second place at the Toughest Mini Tour, only beaten by the ruling world champion in OCR. The fall of season 2017 was unfortunately characterized by a knee injury but he still managed take a bronze medal at the team relay at OCR World Championship in Blue Mountain, Canada.
The interest of running started after a summer job in the northern part of Norway. Without hesitation he stopped playing football when he returned to Gothenburg.
In 2014 he joined Sävedalens AIK and started to compete. The successful running coach Johan Wettergren organizes his training program. Only three years after joining the running club, Linus finished fourth place in the Swedish national marathon in Stockholm.
2020 was a great season despite the pandemic year, with the most significant achievement was to win Lidingöloppet 30 km. In 2021, Linus scored the first podium position in the Swedish trail running national championship.
